BANSHEE • Cry In The Night

Metal Blade Records 1988
This slab, just one amongst many of Metal Blade's long forgotten one-off releases, is actually pretty dece. BANSHEE dealt melodic Metal that covers a lot of varied bases, from OZZY's riffy early solo outings, to RUSH ("I Believe" sports a blatant rip-off of "In The End" from Fly By Night), to MAIDEN and EXCITER on the title track. Totally solid band, great vocals and guitar playing, and heavy yet catchy tracks - you can't really go wrong.

Were these guys from Kansas City?

They were indeed, and according to the Encyclopadia Metallum they're still around.

If I am remembering right, everything after this sucks as they went for a more glam / hard rock sound...

DUDE!! Love the blog and all the killer music you post up here! PLEASE keep it up, the world needs to know about this stuff. Too much pure crap out there masquerading as music these days!
Many of these bands I either didn't know about or just hadn't heard. I've played a bunch of 'em on my radio show over the last few months. Cheers!!

Pretty good. Like a 7th Son era Maiden with Bruce doing some Diamond vocals.

The one after this is awful. But Take 'Em By Storm from 1991 is ok...
